Yesterday morning, the Villanova coaching staff gathered to plan practice. The coaches reviewed the Wildcats’ win over Syracuse on Saturday, when they erased a 10-point second-half deficit to close the regular season with a third consecutive victory.
And the coaches all had one thought.
“We said, ‘Man, I wish we had 15 games left, because we’re starting to get it now,’ ” Villanova coach Jay Wright said.
Better late than never.
The Big East tournament begins tomorrow at Madison Square Garden, and ninth-seeded Villanova will get things started with a noon game against No. 8 DePaul. As is the case in many of the so-called power conferences, the Big East is deep almost from top to bottom
